Eligibility Requirements for all DYCD Programs
People between the ages of 16 and 24 years old
Resident of one of the five boroughs of New York City
Currently not in school and not working
Legally authorized to work in New York City
Career training and employment programs for youth between the ages of 16-24 will help advance your career through comprehensive GED test preparation, employer-recognized training, credentials and certifications, and paid internships. These programs are funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, (DYCD) Workforce Connect.
Advance & Earn

Advance & Earn will help you explore career and educational goals while creating a plan to achieve them. This program, based in Staten Island, can be a life-changing opportunity and an important step toward a degree, independence, and the job of your dreams. Receive academic instruction to prepare for TASC and GED exams, work readiness training, job placement assistance, and college counseling. Obtain industry credentials and certifications, (Food Handler, Retail Specialist, Microsoft Office Specialist, Direct Support Specialist) and receive $150 weekly stipend or paid internship ($15/hour for up to 250 hours).
Train & Earn Cement Polishing and Maintenance Career Program

Our dynamic 16-week program helps young people develop employment skills and the hands-on experience needed for success. Support in developing work readiness skills including resume building and interview preparation are offered in classroom settings. Trade skills for proper concrete polishing techniques are offered through our hands on training. Job placement assistance and opportunities for paid internships are available upon completion.
Train & Earn Government Program

The Train & Earn Government Program provides occupational training in professional administrative work and instruction in resume building, financial literacy, leadership, effective communication, interview preparation, and basic skills. Supportive services, tutoring, guidance and counseling, and follow-up services are included. Participants are paid $25 a day, up to $100 a week, in the classroom and $18 an hour during their internship. A Microsoft Office title certification and job placement assistance are provided upon completion of the program.
