silive: A Staten Island self-taught artist gets national attention, and won’t let a disability stop him

Recently displayed at The Museum of Modern Art and the Outsider Art Fair in Manhattan, Rayed Mohamed‘s artwork features small colorful lines organically arranged into large fields of pattern, perhaps reminiscent of a city viewed from the clouds.  Silive.com profiles the 35-year-old artist, and his expansive portfolio.

It is not every day that a living artist has a work featured in the MoMA, let alone someone who by definition is traditionally marginalized,” said Pola Ana Mora, ArTech program director. “This is a huge accomplishment for Rayed, and well deserved.”
